Main Function

Ignition Control Process

Magneto / Trigger Signal → CDI Control → Ignition Coil → Spark Plug → Combustion

The CDI receives the engine's magneto and trigger signals and processes them through its internal electronic circuit to control ignition timing.

The CDI then drives the high-voltage ignition coil to generate high-voltage output.

The high-voltage energy is delivered to the spark plug, producing an ignition spark that ignites the air-fuel mixture inside the combustion chamber and completes the combustion process.

Therefore, the CDI is one of the core electronic control components of a 2-stroke outboard ignition system.
